28″ x 60″, acrylic on canvas, 2009

“No More Borders No More Tears” was the central painting of a Day of the Dead offering dedicated to Mexicans who die trying to cross the US border in pursuit of a dream of a better life. The painting represents renewal and hope in the shape of “snake fire” or Xiuhcoatl, as a dawning entity bringing healing and rebirth into the hostile desert landscape. “No More Borders No More Tears” was exhibited at Michigan State University Museum in 2009 and at the Pico Gallery, El Puelbo Historical Monument, Los Angeles in 2010.
