“The Brave” stems from a deep desire to explore human identity as continually evolving, shaped by social, political and psychological conditions. Responding to the racially charged political landscape of the state of Arizona, this painting focuses on the dehumanizing limitations resulting from neocolonial patriarchy and the notion of the “other”, and how these fragmented experiences contribute to a dream of life and consequential projections of reality.
